Alopecia UK (AUK) and Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK (AAR-UK) are pleased to announce that agreement between both charities has been reached and approval for the merger has been granted by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Therefore, from the 1st November 2017 the two charities will be combined as one entity: Alopecia UK.
To reflect the merger both AAR-UK and AUK have worked behind the scenes on fully rebranding the combined charity to include the strong legacy from both organisations. This new look takes existing elements of branding and combines this into a new fresh design that reflects the exciting potential for the future. Further details regarding Alopecia UK’s new branding can be found here.
Stewardship of the new charity starts from day one with a combined Trustee board comprising of all existing Trustees from both AAR-UK and AUK with the Chair of Trustees going to Simon Ray.
As previously mentioned, the merged charity has established a research committee that will be chaired by Karen Green (former Trustee of AAR-UK). Karen, and the rest of her committee, have been given a clear mandate to continue the excellent work started by AAR-UK and consider how best to deploy the significant additional resources that this merger brings to the research aims of the combined charity.
Alopecia UK will be working towards the development of a new website in 2018.
Simon Ray, Chair of Trustees, for AUK said: “We are so excited to see that this merger has been successfully completed and we really look forward to working with all our new colleagues.”
Hugh Gallagher, Chair of Trustees for AAR-UK added: “A great deal of hard work has gone into making this merger happen and we are so pleased to see it concluded so amicably. The future is looking very promising for the combined charity and we cannot wait to get to work.”
