*Saturday 17th March - Dermatologist 3pm
Dermatologist Viji Narayanan will be joining the group to talk primarily about non scaring alopecia but will be answering any questions about alopecia attendees may have.
If you will be attending this meeting please can you let Di know in advance so she can confirm there is enough space.
Group meetings are held in a private room used exclusively by group attendees. The meetings provide an opportunity for those affected by alopecia to share experiences and obtain support. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available free of charge.
Please get in touch with Di ahead of a meeting and let her know if you intend to go along.
Di's link with alopecia:
Di has had permanent alopecia since 2011 following treatment for breast
cancer. It is very rare for the hair not to grow back in these
circumstances but Di has used it to support others with alopecia. From Di:
"The Hampshire group is very friendly and you would be made very
welcome". Need Advice or Support Outside of the Group Meetings?
main role of support group leads is to facilitate, and answer questions
about, the group meetings. Some may offer additional support and you
can see what is on offer from both below:
- Di has her telephone number advertised and is happy to provide a listening ear via telephone call if someone phones (between 10am and 8pm).
- Di is happy to receive support questions from those in her local area and
will answer to the best of her ability based on her own knowledge and
experiences. Please be aware that any questions Di is unable to
answer will be sent on to staff at Alopecia UK.
note that all of our support group leads are volunteers and do this in
their spare time. As such please allow up to a week for replies to
emails. The majority of group leads are not trained health
professionals and will be helping from the standpoint of being someone
who is affected by alopecia themselves and wanting to reach out and help
